When the Minnesota Vikings decided if it was available that they needed a new stadium, they wanted to take advantage of public financing. The state of Minnesota obliged, but decided that rather than take the cash from the general fund or create a special tax to enhance the money, they would bring electronic gambling machines to 1000s of bars and other venues around their state. It seemed like an audio plan until it had been placed into practice.

This week, Minnesota announced that residents and people to the state had put down about $15 million in the devices over the course of their first year functioning. Of the, roughly 85% went right back to players by means of winnings, leaving only about $2 million in earnings. That was split among charity expenses, donations and basic taxes, and left nothing for the new stadium. ‘To take an untried supply of revenue for the only source of funding for a major task is ill-advised,’ Dayton stated. ‘That’s my number one take-away from this.’
